Q22. How is ecological balance disturbed?
A22. Human activities in different parts of the world have 
disturbed the natural habitats of many species. Due to 
poaching, several birds and animals have become extinct or 
are endangered. This has disturbed the ecological balance.
Q23. What is CITES?
A23. CITES is the Convention on International Trade in 
Endangered Species of wild flora and fauna.
a) It is an international agreement between governments to 
ensure that such a trade does not threaten the survival of 
wildlife.
b) About 5000 species of animals and 28000 species of plants 
are protected, eg: bears, dolphin, cacti, orchids etc.
